Proudly supporting our Veterans
This is my Dad, for those of you who don’t know. He was a medic in Korea at age 18 and served in Germany from 57 to 60. He often spoke of his time in Germany but never discussed his time in Korea until his last days. The horrendous things he experienced are what nightmares are made of. He is no longer with us. His service and others are why we honor our Veterans on this day. Thank you, Dad, for your service and keeping our country free.

This is my Grandfather. He served most of his time during World War ll in Hitler’s German concentration camps. He passed away when I was nine years old. I have absolutely no memories of him speaking about his time in the concentration camps. I know he was disabled by the PTSD he suffered from because of his experiences. He was our babysitter while Mom was working. He also took care of the 110-acre farm we lived on which provided food to our family and others. What I do remember is that while he was alive, we always had at least 2 different types of meat. There were also several vegetables on the table. My mother often said of my Grandfather that “he never got over being hungry in the concentration camps”. He nearly starved to death while over there.

Veterans Day
Today is November 11th, 2024. On this day It is my wish to honor all the Men and Women that have served our country. I hope that you will honor your family and friends and others, that have served our country as well. Whether they have served our country abroad or at home. They provided us with something so important that it is often taken for granted our Freedom.
Proudly Supporting our Hoosier Heros
I recently received a postcard in the mail from our State Representative. It had a listing of important services for our Hoosier Heros. I am proud to add this information to Work at Home Mania. This makes it readily available for our Service men and women. For other states please put your state abbreviation then .gov/ the id that is listed.
Tax Cuts for those who serve
Hoosier service members no longer pay the individual income tax for all military pay and pensions. The disabled veteran property tax deduction was recently expanded. You can learn more at IN.Gov/DVA
Job Training and Career Assistance
Hoosier employers are looking for more veteran talent. Find jobs in your county. Connect to job training. Learn more about benefits Indiana offers to the men and women who served in our armed forces. Learn more at IN.Gov/veterans
Hope, Help Available to Those in Crisis
Veterans and their loved ones can call Indiana’s Veterans Crisis Line for 24/7 confidential support. To connect dial 988 and then press 1. You don’t have to be enrolled in VA Benefits or health care to receive assistance. Visit Veterans Crisis Line.net or again dial 988, then press 1
New Tool to Help Find Missing, At-risk Vets, Military Members
A new public notification, similar to Indiana’s Amber Alert and Silver Alert, will soon be introduced. It will help first responders locate missing and at-risk veterans and military members. The Indiana State Police would issue a Green Alert within 48 hours of the individual being reported missing.
