Indiana Domestic Violence Shelters and Resources
I recently came across an article on WKDQ.com regarding the Indiana Domestic Violence Shelters that need car seats and other necessities. I decided to share the Indiana Domestic Violence Shelters and resources with you. These shelters do wonderful things for people in need. And you never know who that is. I am a survivor of Domestic Violence. In the past, I too have used the Indiana Domestic Violence Shelters. I won’t go into a lot of personal detail here. I am trying to put the past where it belongs: in the past. I will just say that people think they know others. However, no one really knows what goes on behind closed doors.

Seriously, this happens to more people than you realize (yes, men can be abused as well). Mental, physical, verbal, and sexual abuse. These shelters provide free and confidential services. These services are offered to those impacted by sexual abuse or domestic violence. They include support for victims of human trafficking and stalking. Domestic violence shelters provide support to primary victims or survivors who have experienced abuse. They also offer advocacy and support to secondary survivors. These individuals are impacted by violence through the abuse of a loved one.

I originally posted this article on workathomemania.org on February 19th, 2023. Today in my memories on Facebook something I had reposted came up. It was from the Survivors of Domestic Violence Page on Facebook. It is a poem about the reasons why women stay in abusive relationships. There are many forms of abuse, Mental, physical, verbal, and sexual. Let’s not forget those that have died because of it. Again, it happens to all genders. Here is the link to that page:

Wʜʏ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ?
He has her so brainwashed. She believes it’s all her fault and that she’s no good to anyone. She thinks no one will want her or love her. She believes there’s no way she can possibly make it on her own.
Wʜʏ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ?
She believes if she tries harder, maybe he will be happy with her. If she’s a better wife and mom, he wouldn’t get so angry with her. And maybe he will be the same sweet, charming man that he was when they first met.
Wʜʏ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ?
Because he has her convinced that if she tries, he will hurt or kill her or her family. Because he has, threatened to tell the judge that she is a bad mom and will take away her kids and she will never see them again. Because he has, taken away her money and convinced her that she has no good job qualities to make it on her own financially and she will always need him.
More people are concerned with why women stay in abusive relationships than why men are abusing women. Unless you’ve been in an abusive relationship people have no idea how hard it is to escape. Abusers are able to fool those outside the home because they usually only abuse those inside the home.
They need your support. They need your love. They do not need your judgment.
